Two Cello Workshops for Adults in 2013

We were so successful in our offering of two distinctly different weeks of programming last year that we’ve decided to do it again!  Participants are not limited and may apply for either or both workshops.


Skill-Builder Workshop

Sunday July 28 – Saturday August 3

Focus: Individual Skills

Participants are divided into four groups based on experience: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced.

The program includes:

·         Daily Group Technique and Ensemble Classes

·         Four (4) half-hour private lessons per week

·         Two (2) hours daily for individual practice or pick-up groups

·         Individual recital performances  with piano accompaniment

·         Final Concert featuring performances by each of the four ensemble groups


Ensemble Workshop

Sunday August 4 – Saturday August 10

Focus: Ensemble Skills

Participants are divided into four groups based on experience for placement in the Cello Choir and Quartets.

The program includes:

·         Technique Classes and Sectionals

·         Time for individual practice or pick-up groups

·         Quartet Performances

·         Final Concert featuring performances by the Cello Choir and Faculty

·         Participants who wish to arrive with pre-formed groups and music pre-selected are encouraged to do so.


Facilities and Accommodations

Bryn Mawr College • Bryn Mawr, PA

 

The workshops are held at Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.  This outstanding facility provides for an exciting and enriching experience for all participants.

Facilities include:

·         Comfortable, fully air-conditioned spaces

·         Large and small rehearsal and teaching rooms

·         Beautiful lounges

·         Dining hall that serves exquisitely prepared meals

·         Choice of single or double-occupancy rooms

·         Elevators to ease transportation of your cello


Enrollment


Enrollment is limited for each week.   Application forms are available below and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to previous participants until March 15, 2013.

·         Minimum of 40 and maximum of 64 participants for each workshop week

·         One (1) Virtuoso Faculty for every four (4) participants

Guidelines:

·         Please be as thorough as possible to ensure proper placement.

·         Do not forget to indicate which workshop(s) you would like to attend

·         We strongly encourage all applicants to submit a recording.  Though it is not required, it will help the staff to place each participant according their unique strengths and needs.  You may:

v  Mail a well-packaged CD or DVD

v  Post a video on You Tube and e-mail us the link
